The CFL Geriatric Center is a state-of-the-art home, integrating the most modern training and education programs into a community, family style environment.

A ground breaking ceremony was held in May of 1999 with the Geriatric Center neighboring the existing Okarche campus.

The developmentally disabled often undergo immense stress making the transition from a family-type care situation into an institution. At the Geriatric Center this stress is eliminated or minimal. Residents of the CFL geriatric community will live in a family style environment; newcomers will find a home -- not an institution. Long hallways and nurses stations, reminiscent of traditional nursing facilities, are nearly non-existent. You will find sixteen private bedrooms, a residential kitchen, spacious living areas, and a dining room, will bring members of the CFL community a sense of comfort, security and ownership of their new home.

The Geriatric Center is licensed as a nursing home to provide the residents with specialized services and equipment for all venues of life. As with the demographics of the general population, the needs for seniors with developmental disabilities is crucial and growing. The CFL Geriatric Center was built to meet the needs.

The goal of the Geriatric Center is to provide companionship, medical assistance, recreational, and nutritional needs that are specialized for the elderly developmentally disabled citizens.
